Poison The Well has once again pushed themselves to creative something truly original and truly unique.
It seems like a simple math problem. Take a band that has consistently pushed the boundaries of hardcore. Subtract two of its members. Add four years since their last album. What you will find this adds up to is one hell of a good record.
Like with their last album You Come Before You, Poison the Well has once again pushed themselves to creative something truly original and truly unique. PTW uses an open-ended approach to their song writing while drawing from new musical directions. While the technical guitar work, metallic bursts and unmatched emotion are still present in each song, Versions sees the band draw from Blues and even Country, exploring with new instruments such as mandolins, slide guitars, horns and banjo.
Each song on the album plays like a chapter to a story. Each song possesses its own identity while keeping with the concept of the album. While Poison the Well has always been known for their creative musical approach, their lastest album proves why they are one of the best bands in the genre. They have managed to push their boundaries while keeping true to the sound they have spent 10 years making. This is truly an album that needs to be experienced.
