Playstation 3 - Rockstar Games

Pros: Great story line; excellent cut scenes; interesting fighting combos; nice “jiggle” effect on female characters in the cut scenes; a good bit of playability

Cons: Lame puzzles; annoying platforming element, too many cut scenes; Nero’s girlfriend looks like dog salad; bosses are way to easy to beat

This is the game everyone has been waiting for. Being the sequel to an already popular franchise, I honestly sorta hated the other games before it because I thought they were a bit sloppy and simplistic. Shit, I was surprised when I started playing this, and it has become my new crack.

Right off, this is a nice Next Gen game. Excellent soundtrack, great game-play graphics and open-world exploring. One thing that really stuck out for me was how well the storyline was created. It’s crafted in a very nice “choose-your-own-adventure” style. You can pick and choose what missions to do, and when and how to interact with people. This game also differs in the sense that you have to build and maintain social relationships with certain characters in order for them to help you. I thought this was a great nod to Second Life.

Another part of this game I loved was how well the driving mechanics worked. No matter what vehicle you stole, you always had a variation in that vehicle's controls. My ride of choice, the 70s GTO, handled like a muscle car should. And then top that off with great radio stations edited by some hot real world DJs ( DJ Premier kills it on the Classics station), you have a match made in heaven to outrun cops or plow over pedestrian.

The one flaw of this game for me, and mostly because it is on the PS3, is that the cut scenes looked choppy and sloppy. The voice acting is great but when God Of War has better cut scenes on a PS2, then you know this is crap. I really hoped the characters would have been rendered better. Specifically when you go to the strip club, nobody wants a dance from a boney-butted girl…

Overall this game is going into heavy play mode for me. I will probably play this every day until Metal Gear Solid comes out and I have no complaints about that. I'll just make sure I don’t run out of ammo or get sick of working for the Russian Mob...then I’ll be fine.

GTA4 overall, SICK!!! I live by Coney Island so I was really happy to see what they did with the place.. So that was a plus. I also love that the player had to make his/her own decision in many parts of the game. Internet Cafe "TW@T" haha hot shit. I shot a few of my gf's after listening to them yap in the passenger seat. Carmen had to go, QUICK! Has anyone dated the rich snob "Alex Chilton"? www.blogsnobs.org there is a certain blog that you have to reply to. She's a pretentious cunt. One thing that I was really upset about is the lack of Bicycles in this game. I mean, it's fucking NYC. There should've been some bike messenger missions or something. Prostitutes... mother fucker I must have bagged about 60 Hoes. fat hoes, crack hoes and black hoes. Kill em all after and take photos of their dead bodies with my money laying all around them... is this a sickness? should I seek menta.... ahh never mind!!!! Some cut scenes were pretty funny. Brucie fucking owns!!! I think I'm approximately 70% complete. But I don't think I could complete this game 100% if it were my job. Online is fun. I just wish we were given more freedom to create a character. PSN ID: Choke_and_Die

carew- I did think they were sloppy and simplistic compared to other game engines out on the market at the time for the PS2. It was a turn off how jerky the action was and how the enviorments were rendered. The cutscenes also left alot to be desired. This one I think excelled at it because the hardware could finally support such a big sandbox. Eventhough I had an Atari 2600 when I was a kid it still takes alot for me to be 100 percent convinced of a game, especially on newer platforms.

I haven't even played GTA IV yet, but how you consider the other GTA's a "bit sloppy and simplistic" absolutely confounds me. Even though GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas were very similar, they were all brilliant and I am old enough to have played every video game ever made (I actually had "pong" as a boy in the 1970's!).

I havent played the online yet I have been too wrapped up in the story line. hey really outdid themselves this time and created a great narrative with so many choices to makes that its always evolving.

Good job on reviewing games! I just wish it didn't take like two weeks for a new review to come up to see what others think. :( -sad face- he he. I wish more of the burning angel girlz would make some more video game videos on here. That would be crazy rad-ness! ha ha -hint guitar hero groupie- ^.^ Grand Theft Auto 4 will most likely win some awards this year. I found it to be really easy on the difficulty level. I blew through the story in this game in about 20 hours. I still got to get to 100% complete... but that’s going to be another 20 hours :( I agree with the cut scenes they were not the best. They seemed to be choppy but hey I went with it. I don't know if you got online but online seems to be pretty well setup. 16 player online seemed to be as fun as the single-player portion. The only downside with it is there is a lot of "lag". Overall it has been one of the year’s best game to release. I can’t wait for more reviews to come. I hope more people comment in the review section. :p
